Leicester City resume their Championship campaign with a trip to Oxford United on Saturday lunchtime (12:30pm kick-off) as Marti Cifuentes’ men look to strengthen their early promotion push.

Oxford United v Leicester will be shown live on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event, with coverage beginning at 12pm ahead of the 12:30pm kick off at the Kassam Stadium.

The Foxes have made a solid start to life back in the second tier, winning three of their opening four matches to climb into fourth place.

Their 2-0 victory over Birmingham City before the international break was their most convincing display so far and Cifuentes will be eager for his side to build on that momentum at the Kassam Stadium.

Despite that promising form, Leicester’s away record is a concern.

They have lost two of their three matches on the road in all competitions this season, though they did secure a 1-0 victory at Charlton in their last away outing before backing it up with that strong home win against Birmingham.

For Oxford, the international break arrived just as they had shown signs of life. Gary Rowett’s side collected their first point of the season with a spirited 1-1 draw against promotion-chasing Coventry, but they still sit in the relegation zone after taking just one point from four matches.

Heavy defeats to Portsmouth, Hull and Birmingham left Oxford struggling at the foot of the table, while a 6-0 Carabao Cup hammering at the hands of Premier League Brighton only added to the gloom. Rowett will hope his team can rediscover some fight against a Leicester side targeting an instant return to the Premier League.

Oxford may also take heart from history.

They are unbeaten in three of their last four meetings with Leicester, who have managed just one win in their last 10 away trips to Oxford. However, the sides have not faced each other since the 1993/94 season, when both were second-tier clubs.

Victory for Leicester on Saturday would temporarily lift them to the top of the Championship table.

For Oxford, the aim will be to harness home advantage and frustrate the Foxes as they seek to climb out of the relegation zone.
