Two sides with contrasting ambitions meet at Fratton Park on Saturday as struggling Portsmouth take on promotion chasing Burnley in the Championship.

Pompey are just one place and two points above the relegation zone and come into this fixture off the back of successive defeats. They suffered a loss away to West Brom before falling at home to Millwall in midweek.

Burnley are in far better form. They are unbeaten in 16 Championship matches and currently sit third in the table, just a point behind second-placed Sheffield United and three adrift of leaders Leeds.

Portsmouth vs Burnley Live Streaming on TV

Portsmouth’s clash with Burnley has not been chosen for live TV coverage on Sky Sports for this round of Championship fixtures.

Fans outside the UK can watch the match via the official club websites, where a live streaming service is available.

The game will take place at Fratton Park, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT on Saturday, February 1.

Team news

Portsmouth expect to have Rob Atkinson back in the squad after the Bristol City loanee missed the defeat to Millwall due to illness.

Defender Jordan Williams was also absent from that match with a hamstring problem and is likely to remain sidelined. Regan Poole, Ibane Bowat, Jacob Farrell, Paddy Lane, Mark O’Mahony and Kusini Yengi are still unavailable.

Burnley continue to manage without Jordan Beyer, Manuel Benson, Enock Agyei, Aaron Ramsey and Nathan Redmond, who all remain out.

Jonjo Shelvey has yet to feature since arriving at Turf Moor in January. It remains to be seen if the former Newcastle midfielder will make his debut in this fixture.

The stats

Portsmouth had been enjoying a strong home run before their midweek setback against Millwall. They were unbeaten in seven matches at Fratton Park, winning six of those.

John Mousinho’s side have collected 22 of their 29 Championship points on home soil this season.

Defensive issues have been a problem, with Pompey conceding 52 league goals this term. Only Plymouth, who sit at the bottom of the table, have let in more.

Burnley boast the longest unbeaten streak in the division, having not lost a Championship fixture since early November when they were beaten at Millwall.

Their defensive record is the best in the top four divisions, conceding just nine goals in 29 league matches. Monday’s goalless draw against Leeds was their seventh successive clean sheet, and they have let in only one goal across their last eight away games.

Burnley won the reverse fixture 2-1 in September and were 5-1 victors on their last visit to Fratton Park, although that match took place nearly 13 years ago.
