While the defeat was expected against the favored Liverpool side, Brentford will view Saturday’s fixture as an opportunity to secure a win against a newly promoted Southampton.

Southampton have returned to the Premier League but are struggling early on, having lost both of their opening matches without scoring a goal. Despite creating nineteen shots in their first game against Newcastle, manager Russell Martin expressed pride in his team’s performance.

Concerns may be growing after his side managed just five shots at home against Nottingham Forest in their most recent outing. Southampton will need to significantly improve their attacking output if they hope to stay in the top flight of English football next season.

It’s a stark contrast from when these teams last met in League One back in 2011; now both are competing in the Premier League.

Since their promotion, Brentford have won three of their four encounters with the Saints, and they will be aiming to take all three points again in this matchup.
