The OVO Hydro has missed the sight of Peter Wright’s colour splashed mohawk on Premier League Thursdays but Snakebite is back in a cameo that may light a fire under his faltering season. Omitted from this year’s permanent eight after a barren patch the two time world champion will play an exhibition challenge against Fallon Sherrock during the interval and join the Sky Sports panel for live punditry.

Wright insists the night is about giving something back to Scottish fans who have travelled the length of the circuit to support him. He arrives armed with a brand new forty two gram setup and promises to unveil yet another outrageous shirt design inspired by Glasgow street art. Early practice averages leaked on social media suggest his scoring has ticked upward since switching equipment.

On stage the headline business remains the duel between the two Lukes. Littler edged Humphries six five here in February and has since added Brighton and Newcastle crowns to his haul. Humphries answered with titles in Exeter and Manchester so bragging rights north of the border are finely poised as the tour prepares for its northern run home.

Scottish spectators will also keep an eye on world Cup hero Gary Anderson who appears in a ProTour qualifier on the afternoon card. Organisers have integrated results from that event into the evening graphics package to keep the crowd fully engaged from first dart until trophy lift.

Wright believes the energy inside the Hydro can still sway the title picture. If the home faithful turn the venue tartan even for a single night the ripple effect could be felt all the way to The O two in May.
